What We Delivered
Terra is a Brazilian internet company owned by the Spanish group Telefónica, one of the largest telecommunications conglomerates in the world.
Launched in Brazil in 1999, Terra was chosen by the Telefónica group as part of its strategy to start Internet operations in Latin America.
In addition to acting as a news portal, the company also currently works with mobile applications, advertising and other digital services.
I worked at Terra from 2008 to 2014. At this time Terra Networks had offices in the main markets in Latin America: Buenos Aires (Argentina), Santiago (Chile), Bogotá (Colombia), Mexico City and Monterrey (México), Lima (Peru) and Miami (United States) and was one of the largest content portals in the Americas with about 100 million pageviews daily.
In 2014 the company realized that was necessary to be completely renovated. In order to achieve this goal, a bold modernization project was created and had as objective to make the Portal design modernized with a customized experience according to the users’ preferences. For this, rules and algorithms were created which would allow contents to be delivered with maximum assertiveness in relation to the users’ tastes.
As the project had a very large dimension, considering the number of contents and the number of channels in the Portal, several agile teams were created where each one worked on the design and development of specific products.
In my case, I worked as an Information Architect in a team that developed transversal products, it means, products that could be used in several different channels, such as sports modules, information about specific events like reality shows and even the main menu of the site .
